The brief
The roof showed areas of mineral-chip loss, biological growth and denting. The existing solar installation added a protection and access requirement to the preparation and coating programme.
An essential check on older coatings
Some older decromastic coatings contain asbestos. On any proposed job, suspected asbestos must be assessed before disturbance. High-pressure water spraying must not be used on asbestos-containing material.
Recorded preparation and restoration
The project record includes growth treatment, controlled cleaning, local tile repairs and restoration of the chipped surface before protective coatings. The solar installation remained an important part of the access and protection plan throughout the work.
